When spring practice begins March 31 for the Colorado Buffaloes there will be two former BK Knights on the field in Boulder. Cody Hawkins (’06) returns at the QB position for the Buffs, as expected. The new guy will be Kyle Cefalo (’07), a former three-sport athlete at BK who is trying out for the Buffs as a wide receiver. Cefalo, listed as 5-10 165-pounds on the Colorado spring roster, enrolled at the school last fall and earned an invitation to walk-on this spring along with four other prospects.
As BK’s starting QB in 2006, Cefalo led the Knights to a 9-3 record and a spot in the State Championship game. He was 1st team All-Southern Idaho Conference QB that season. The fleet-footed lefty served as backup QB to Hawkins at BK as a sophomore and junior, and started on defense while handling punting and some placekicking duties as well. Cefalo attended Oregon State and College of Idaho prior to enrolling at Colorado. He was involved in the baseball programs at both of those schools following his standout career as a pitcher and outfielder for the Knights.
Boise State has four former Knights on its spring roster: Andy Silsby, Cedric Febis, Drew Hawkins, and Spencer Gerke (who is listed at 6-3, 292-pounds).
